Inside the SUV that picks you up

Most transportation sites show you the outside of the car. These are photos of the inside of ours, taken as it sits, so you know exactly what you are stepping into at the curb.

Where everyone sits

Six passengers, plus the driver.

The second row is two captain's chairs, not a bench. Each one has its own armrests and its own space, and there is a gap down the middle where a third seat would normally be.

Behind them, a bench seat runs across the back. Up front, next to the driver, there is room for one more.

Nobody climbs over anybody

In most SUVs the second row is one long bench. To reach the back seat someone folds a chair forward and climbs through the gap, usually holding a jacket and a phone, usually in a parking lot, usually in the snow.

This one has an open aisle from the side door straight through to the rear bench. You walk in.

If you are travelling with kids, or with anyone who would rather not be climbing over seats in ski boots, that is the detail you will actually notice.

From the back row. The panel on the rear of the console is the third row climate control.

Skis, boards and bags

Inside, three to four checked bags and three to four carry-ons, depending on how big the checked bags are.

Then there is the roof basket, and it is the part worth knowing about. Ski bags go up there. So does anything that does not fit inside once six people are seated, which is the moment most transfers to a mountain go wrong.

The third row bench also folds down. Flat, the back opens into a long cargo floor for hard cases and boards, without anyone holding a bag on their lap for forty minutes.

Tell dispatch what you are carrying when you book and the car arrives set up for it. If it is easier to just talk it through, call 970-877-RIDE.

What is already in the car

Cold bottled water in the console.

Rear climate controls on the back of the front console, so the people in the back set their own temperature instead of leaning forward to ask.

Black leather throughout. And the photos on this page are the actual car, not a stock shot of the model, which is worth saying because most sites in this valley use one.

What pulls up

Black, full-size, and long enough that the third row is a real seat rather than an afterthought.

The photo below was taken on snow, in winter, which is the surface it works on for most of the season here.

Questions

Common questions

How many people can ride?

Six passengers plus the driver. Two captain's chairs in the second row, a bench seat across the third, and a seat up front.

How much luggage fits?

Three to four checked bags and three to four carry-ons inside, depending on how big the checked bags are. Anything beyond that goes in the roof basket.

Will our skis and snowboards fit?

Yes. Ski bags go in the roof basket, which is what it is there for. Inside, the third row bench also folds down and opens a flat cargo floor for hard cases and boards.

Can passengers in the back control the temperature?

Yes. There are climate controls on the back of the front console, so the rear seats set their own temperature without asking the driver to change it.

Is there anything to drink in the car?

Cold bottled water sits in the console for every ride.

Do you meet us at the airport?

Yes. Flights are tracked so the pickup follows your actual landing time rather than the scheduled one, at the commercial terminal or planeside at the private aviation FBO.
